Benjamin Doane

A cellist from Rochester, NY, Benjamin Doane graduated from the Juilliard School in 2025 with a Bachelor’s of Music in Performance. Doane has performed at prestigious summer programs including IMS Prussia Cove, Kneisel Hall, the Perlman “Littles” Program, the Heifetz Music Institute, and Bowdoin Music Festivals. His recent festival appearances include Lyricafest and the Smithsonian’s Haydn Academy.

In 2022, Doane made his concerto debut playing the Elgar Concerto with the Symphony of the Mountains under Cornelia Laemelli Orth. A sought-after chamber musician, Doane has performed alongside luminaries including Cathrine Manson, Curtis Stewart, and Sam Rhodes. He plays regularly with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra.

Doane attended the Eastman Immersion Program in 2018, studying with Guy Johnson. Prior teachers include Timothy Eddy, Astrid Schween, Katie Fittipaldi, Steven Doane, and Rosemary Elliot, for whom he has been a Teaching Assistant since 2024.

Doane plays on a 1827 cello by Gaetano Vinaccia.
