Helena Webster
Helena Webster divides her professional time between performing and teaching voice. As a teacher, she encourages exploration and growth in a wide variety of musical genres in every age and voice type. Helena recently completed her Master of Music Performance degree in Voice Pedagogy at the University of Toronto, and holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from St. Olaf College, where she served as the manager of the St. Olaf Choir during their 2019 Norway and 2020 Carnegie Hall tours. An avid amateur linguist, she also has a deep love for choral music, and explores both these interests through frequent collaborations with composers and ensembles in Minnesota, Washington, New York, and Toronto.
Helena’s most recent lecture-recital, entitled “Building A Toolbox for Learning: Extended Vocal Techniques,” was presented in Toronto in May 2026. Upcoming performances include the Academie Francis Poulenc in Tours, France and a recital of contemporary works by women composers alongside pianist Dr. Marie Haines in Toronto, Ontario. Previously, Helena has sung the role of Graciela in Ann Millikan’s Swede Hollow, a 2012 opera based on the life stories of immigrants to the titular neighbourhood in St. Paul, MN. She has also performed alongside choir and orchestra as the soprano soloist in Vivaldi’s Gloria and Mozart’s Requiem.
She is a champion of the works of women composers in her own performances, as well as her students’. As such, she has been a featured soloist in the Canadian Art Song Showcase and Vocalis Chinese Art Song Concerts at the University of Toronto in spring 2025, as well as the Vocalis concert in spring 2026 centring on Ophelia’s Mad Scene by American composer Gloria Coates. She has been previously featured at Barachois Summer Music and in the Source Song Festival’s MNDuo program, and was the 2nd place winner of the 2024 Ontario NATS Competition and Vocal Showcase.
