Kanack School

String Orchestra

Open to all strings, and other instruments with instructor permission.

Students in orchestra study various works for string instruments in small groups, as sections, and as a full orchestra. Students rely on each other in a team setting, so it’s important that students are able to attend rehearsal consistently and commit to the concert.

The String Orchestra is open to students in Suzuki Book 5 and up, or Book 4 with instructor permission. This group plays a demanding level of music and helps to develop expression, musicality, and sensitivity. This group may split into small groups or perform as a whole without a conductor, encouraging more focused communication between its players. Solo opportunities are sometimes available.
