Vicky Fredlund-Feathers
Vicky Fredlund-Feathers has been encouraging students, young and old, to discover their ability to create music through learning an instrument for close to 50 years now. She earned her degree in instrumental music education from Ithaca College and has taught instrumental and general music at all age levels, K-12, in public schools, as well as developed instrumental music programs in two private schools. She has worked with children’s choirs, put on musicals, and conducted adult choirs and instrumental ensembles, composing and arranging music along the way. She has led and performed on church worship teams, including leading the Rochester City-Wide Prayer Worship Team in the 80’s. While her major instrument in college was the clarinet, you’ll find her performing in pit orchestras not only on clarinet, but on flute, saxophone, as well as on other instruments. She has performed vocally on stage for musicals as well, and toured one summer with the Continental Singers and Brass on tenor saxophone. I performed the national anthem while conducting a twenty piece elementary instrumental ensemble for the opening of a Red Wings game. She has also performed for a variety of church conferences and meetings, as well as for nursing homes; accompanying herself on guitar, with background tapes, or collaborating with accompanists. She loves to meet new students and to start helping them achieve their own unique voice through the instrument of they choose! Ms. Vicky says, “Bring on the music!!!”
